Evelyn's journey

We have now come to the end of the most incredible journey for our daughter, Evelyn.

Our daughter was diagnosed at three years old with ASD. She was non verbal, showed little signs of communication and had difficulty engaging in her education setting. Mary met Evelyn at age five and conducted an assessment, establishing that our daughter had issues with her vestibular system. This manifested in considerable delays in several areas, where some of our daughter’s physical responses were the equivalent to that of a six month old baby.

We visited Mary once a week over the period of 17 months and the results have been life changing for our daughter. Now at the age of six, Evelyn is at age appropriate levels. Evelyn spent much of the early years in nursery and school being ‘encouraged’ to look at specialist settings. With Mary’s intervention, she is now working at age appropriate levels in class and will continue comfortably in a main stream setting - something we didn’t think was possible. Evelyn is now verbal and engaged and has even begun to show an interest in making / enjoying connections with her peers. Again something we never thought was possible for our daughter.

The most important part we want to give our full thanks for is the continued belief in our daughter. Many settings have been negative and have been quick to dismiss Evelyn’s potential. Mary has shown full belief in Evelyn since the day they met and the results of that are evident. And for us too as parents, it’s amazing to find someone who is whole heartedly about giving your child the best opportunity to enjoy and access life. Mary has changed our daughter's future and given her the opportunity to thrive and we can’t thank her enough for that.
